“Everything you should know about a T3 connection” |
T3 Connection FAQ Written by: Patrick Oborn - Mar 10, 2010 A t3 connection is a point-to-point dedicated line that provides 672 64-Kbps voice or data channels or in other words 28 T1 lines. A T3 is used to transmit digital signals at 44.736 megabits per second and has enough bandwidth to transmit full-motion real-time video and very large databases over a busy network. A T3 line would be installed as a major networking channel for a large corporation or university with high volume network traffic. When you need more capacity, you often have to buy it in the next available increment, which may end up costing more than you want or can afford to spend. Worse yet, with current, "burst" application requirements, the need for additional bandwidth can often be as temporary as it is critical. By providing flexible capacity, or "bandwidth on demand," service providers can help customers deal with variations in traffic, and with avoiding a high fixed monthly payment. True bandwidth-on-demand services should allow for a wide range in capacity. Although anybody can purchase a burstable T3, this type of connection can be costly, even as costly as a full 45Mbps connection. Burstable lines can be found at their lowest cost at a collocation facility. At a collocation facility, or "colo", many users share a large OC3 or OC12 pipe. As a customer you will not have to pay for a the fixed cost of such a large pipe, but will have the benefit of being able to burst up to very high speeds if necessary. If you need the reliability of a large pipe fur busty traffic but don't have the capital consider a colo. If you have a steady volume and are consistent, you may consider keeping services in house and going with a T3 connection. Whether you're considering a collocation facility or a T3 to the door, make sure you use a broker to help guide you through the providers and plans available. |

Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line also known as ADSL is a group of DSL technologies that apply more bandwidth in one direction than the other. For example, sometimes a T1 line will be conveyed as having 1.544 Mbps bandwidth and other times at 1.536 Mbps because you have to subtract the .008 Mbps for framing bits. You can actually obtain service that utilizes the T1 technology through a plethora of different providers. In the very recent past, computers were a luxury in the home and business, now for most they are a necessity. These types of organizations require E3 connections because they transfer large amounts of data from multiple locations. AboveNet IP Transit eliminates network complexity and geographic bottlenecks while delivering small, medium, and large business organizations from the limitations of legacy telco networks. (EVPL) or Ethernet Virtual Private Line Service provides point-to-point connectivity and allows management of bandwidth, traffic characteristics and destination of routes. Cable modem service is not recommended for use by Internet servers for a variety of reasons. With Gigabit Ethernet, some of the single mode fiber will reach all the way up to 10 kilometers. When you have Ethernet, Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet WAN connections, the enterprise network can be interconnected effectively no matter how remote your locations happen to be. ACC Business provides T1 Lines, T3 Lines, Ethernet, MPLS, etc. and by plugging into the power of ATT. BandTel can provide your business with High Bandwidth Solutions via Ethernet or Fiber Optic Networks. Most T1 lines still utilized the old twisted copper appearance the only difference is the line creates a pipe in nature that is capable of delivering more data streams at one time comparative to your traditional twisted copper wires.
